Water rebates available to householders
To encourage you to adopt water saving strategies, the Government is offering the following rebates:
- Rainwater Tank Rebates
- Washing Machine Rebates and Toilet Rebates
- Solar Hot Water Heater Rebates
Rainwater tank rebates
To qualify for the rainwater tank rebate, the rainwater tank must have been purchased after 20 October 2002 and be a new tank with a capacity of 2,000 litres or more.
Rainwater tank size | Rebate amount offered by Sydney Water |
2000-3999 litres | $150 rainwater tank rebate plus $150 if a toilet and/or washing machine are connected to the tank. |
4000-6999 litres | $400 rainwater tank rebate plus $150 if a toilet and/or washing machine are connected to the tank. |
7,000+ litres | $500 rainwater tank rebate plus $150 if a toilet and/or washing machine are connected to the rainwater tank. |
Important: If you are building a new home and are required to have a water tank on your property under BASIX regulations, you will not be eligible for any water tank rebate.
Washing machine rebate – available until 28 February 2007
If you purchase a new washing machine with a water efficiency rating of 4-star of 5A before February 28, 2007, you are eligible for a washing machine rebate of $150. The rebate offer commenced on 1 March 2006 and will run for 12 months.
